Apple seems to be planning to launch its 3rd Generation iPhone SE in the first half of 2022. We expect the launch will take place between March-April given the history of products launched at the year start Apple events.

How Will The Apple Spring Event 2022 rumours affect the September Launch?
Do you like a plus or a mini iPhone? Because those Apple fans who prefer a small phone may be hearing these iPhone SE 3rd Generation rumours and be tempted to wait for that launch, rather than investing more money in the iPhone 13 mini in September. The iPhone 13 range is set to be a higher price point than the SE range, which has always been Apples lower-spec device on offer at a lower price point.
How Does The iPhone SE 3rd Generation Differ From The iPhone 13 Mini?
The iPhone SE 3rd Generation isn’t changing very much in looks. While the iPhone 13 range is expected to see a design change, notably with a smaller notch on the top of the device, the iPhone SE 3rd Generation will be visually staying the same.
What the iPhone SE 3rd Generation will see is an upgrade on the inside, specifically with a more powerful A15 Bionic processor, the same as the iPhone 13 range. The size of the screen is remaining the same as before at 4.7inches.
One thing that the iPhone SE 3rd Generation and the iPhone 13 Mini will have in common will be 5G support. In fact, it’s believed that this feature will be the main selling point of the iPhone SE 3rd Generation, with Apple pushing it as their cheapest 5G supporting iPhone available.
What Else Will Be Announced At The Apple Spring Event in 2022?
While we can’t say for sure, we can speculate that the iPhone SE 3rd Generation will not be the only thing launched by Apple in March-April of 2022. At the Spring Loaded event that took place this April (2021), Apple announced a new iMac, iPad Pro, Apple TV, and of course, the AirTag Bluetooth tracker. So it seems reasonable to assume that at the 2022 Apple Spring Event, Apple will announce more than the 3rd Generation iPhone SE.
The 2022 Apple Spring Event may see the announcement of the anticipated upgrade of the MacBook Air, with Apple rumoured to be developing an even thinner and lighter version of the laptop. The newest MacBook Air is expected to have thinner bezels, a mini-LED display, MagSafe charging technology along with a pair of USB 4 ports to connect external devices. The current MacBook Air supports seven or eight GPU cores, while the newest MacBook Air is expected to support better graphics, with nine or 10 GPU cores.
AirPods Pro is expected to be joining the Apple lineup eventually, with a more compact design and a new wireless chip. It’s rumoured that the new AirPods Pro will be getting rid of the short stem that currently sticks out from the bottom, with the design approaching the wireless earbuds that Samsung and Google currently have on offer. The AirPods Pro should be arriving by the end of 2022, but likely much sooner.
Will The 2022 iPhone SE Be Available In a Plus Version?
There are some well-informed analysts, including Ming-Chi Kuo who believe that Apple is currently developing a device that resembles an iPhone SE Plus. The device is said to likely be slightly larger than the current iPhone SE with a 5.5inch or 6.1inch LCD screen. While this is an interesting prospect for those who love a bigger iPhone and would like to keep the home button, it’s possible that the company changes their mind about the launch.
The iPhone SE Plus was originally rumoured to be launched in the first half of 2021, which then seemed to get postponed to the second half of 2021. If there is an iPhone SE Plus announcement, we would expect it to be launched at the Apple Spring 2022 event in March-April.
